At Masterminds, social development is as vital as academic achievement. Our Social Code empowers children across all our age groups and programs (early years, elementary, middle school) to understand their impact, while building habits of mindfulness, accountability, and community.
Community Agreements: From respectful greetings to active listening, our daily policies guide how students interact with peers, teachers, and the learning environment.
Responsibilities: Students are expected to arrive prepared, complete tasks diligently, and work cooperatively. Positive behaviors are reinforced through a clear point system.
Privileges: Children can trade in points for meaningful experiences, such as being the Group Captain for a day, choosing class activities, or lunching with a favorite teacher. This teaches delayed gratification, goal setting, and intrinsic motivation.
Awards & Taxes: Students earn points (in the form of colored chips) for meeting expectations and demonstrating initiative. Conversely, minor “taxes” are issued for actions needing reflection. These aren’t punishments—they’re learning moments.
Weekly Reflection: Every Friday during Math, students count their chips and graph their points—linking social behavior to numeracy skills and promoting self-evaluation.
Through project-based learning, innovation labs, and capstone research, students retain knowledge and evolve into agile, self-driven thinkers.
